Privacy Policy

Who we are

Meno (https://thedailymeno.com) provides a daily, Scripture-grounded devotional tailored to your real life. For data-protection purposes, Meno is the controller of the personal information described here.

What we collect, and why

• Account information: your email address and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we never see or store them in readable form.
• Your life profile: what you choose to share, including name, date of birth, important dates, the people you love, your season of life, occupation, faith background, and preferences like Bible translation and tone. Every field is optional.
• Life updates and prayer requests: the ongoing notes you add so your devotional can meet you where you are, and anything you choose to share with a linked family member.
• Your devotionals: the readings written for you, kept so you can revisit and save what resonates.
• Billing information: handled by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we store only your subscription status.
• Push-notification token: if you turn on morning notifications in the iOS app, we store the device token Apple gives the app and link it to your account solely to deliver those notifications. The token does not give us access to your contacts, photos, location, or other device data.
• Basic technical data: the minimum needed to keep the service secure and working (for example, authentication session cookies; see the Cookie Policy). We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.

We know religious beliefs and intimate life events are a special category of personal information, and we treat them that way: collected only with your consent, used only to serve you, minimized everywhere we can.

How your information is used

• To write your daily devotional and keep it relevant as your life changes.
• To operate your account, subscription, and the sharing you explicitly set up.
• To send transactional messages: your optional morning push, daily email reminder, receipts, and account messages.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising of any kind. We never have.

How the AI works with your story

The devotional reflections, prayers, and questions you receive are written by artificial intelligence: generated for you by Anthropic’s Claude model, and not written or reviewed by a human before you see them. (The Scripture passages themselves are always the verbatim canonical text of a public-domain translation, never AI-generated.) To create them, we send the model a purpose-built, minimized summary of your profile and recent updates, not your raw records, together with the day’s Scripture passage. Service providers

A small set of providers process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit use to providing their service to us: Supabase (database and authentication), Anthropic (AI generation), Stripe (payments), Postmark (transactional email), Twilio (phone-number verification, only if you choose to add or sign in with a phone number), Apple Push Notification service (optional iOS notifications), Sentry (error monitoring, configured to strip out personal data), and Vercel (hosting). We share the minimum each needs and nothing more.

Sharing is yours to grant

Nothing about you is visible to any other person unless you explicitly link with a family member or friend, and even then, both sides must accept, you choose exactly what is shared, and revoking the link stops all sharing immediately.

Retention

We keep your information while your account is active so your devotional history stays with you, with one exception: life updates (the “What’s new” entries) are automatically and permanently deleted about 30 days after you post them. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, life updates, prayers, devotionals, and push-notification tokens, fully and promptly, keeping only what the law requires us to retain (for example, billing records). Tokens that Apple reports as no longer active are also removed automatically. See the Memorialization & Data Deletion Policy for what happens to an account after its owner passes away.

Your rights and choices

These controls are built into your account, not hidden behind a form: view and edit everything you’ve shared, export your data, and delete your account entirely. Depending on where you live (including California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, and the EU/UK), you may also have formal rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. We honor these for everyone, not just where required.

Privacy requests

Email hello@thedailymeno.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We will verify the request comes from you (or your authorized agent) and respond within the time your local law requires, and in any case within 30 days. Government and law-enforcement demands are handled under our Law Enforcement & Emergency Disclosure Policy

Children

Meno is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we’ll update this page, note the date at the top, record it in the legal change log, and, for significant changes, tell you by email before they take effect.
